Pictured a long time ago, cannot remember when now but it was months before being withdrawn and replaced.

Perhaps one of ther few RNLB's to change her name in service.

The AMELIA started life as the JAMES AND CATHERINE MACFARLANE.

She was built by J S White of Cowes in 1964 and was an Oakley 37ft Self Righter.

Cost was £33,000 and this was covered in part by a Legacy from Mr R F Macfarlane. An additional Legacy from Mrs A Borland and RNLI Funds were supplied in 1967 and her name was changed to AMELIA, who I imagine was Mrs Borland.

Power was supplied by twin 52 hp Parsons 4cyl Porbeagle engines.

Service Record.

Relief 23rd May 1964 to 8th November 1978. (She was also the First LB to be built specifically for the Relief Fleet.)
Scarborough, 8th November 1978 to 27th September 1991.

Sold in February 1992 for display at Charlestown, Cornwall.
