You have me a bit puzzled in regards to your comments on the Port Bow N.E. I can see the opening on the Starboard Bow which I presume is left open till they clear the Port or Mickey is swinging the Lead!!

Look closely at first photo and you can see the port open on both sides

So it is ... so the pilot can high-dive off either side.
It disn'ey matter which.
