For those that wondered what the tower looked like offshore after it left the McNulty yard.

Its the North East equivalant of the "Eye-balls in the Sky".

Those of you who remember the Perishers will make the connection.

Its surprising how far off and from where you can see the red light on top. The flashing white lights can be seen from nearer.

Hi Paul

The tower is exactly 3 mile offshore, when they add the wind turbines I wonder how long it will take before someone runs into one as it's a quite a busy route for coasters and local yachts, the towers position is actual shown on my plotter, but it does not show up on AIS.

I wonder that myself Mike.
Its certainly well lit at night with BIG flashing white lights, but there again the Farne Islands have a BIG Lighthouse and ships still hit them......

Its also deceptive as to how far its offshore, depending on where you view it from. If I remember correctly the Mills are going to be in three arrays of five with the last row five miles off??

Paul,
think the windmills are in two batches, 3/5 miles offshore and 8 miles, the latter just over the horizon.
Sure that's how I read it in Blyth lies, although never believe evything you see in print, especially public notices
