Best pic I have seen of her. From what I remember of her she spent most of her time tramping round UK and Northern Europe alongwith Queensland. Highland had a short term charter to CEGB and Foreland was worldwide trading. We had the contract with Shipping & Coal to supply their ships with fresh meat and veg etc so we supplied Foreland in Smiths Dock, North Shields and Redcar (borrowed a slaughterhouse waggon to transport the order), Greenland in Liverpool and Leith, Queensland in Sunderland and Highland when she was in Blyth. Greenland did'nt last long after she was sold, lost in the emd I think.

Great photo, any reason for her listing?

Thinking of the location I would say she was aground on a sloping berth. Not sure why she would have been put on that berth, but no doubt there will be an explanation. The Baltic Flour Mill berth was 198m in length with a depth alongside of 8.01m below chart Datum and she is down river of that. The next "proper" berth down river on the south side was/is the Aggregates Plant of Steetley Denniff. (1976)
The craft alongside is one of the shipyard workboats so repairs to hull are a strong possibility.

I did wonder if she had been discharging at Ranks and had touched bottom leaving the berth

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas (is cancelled)

Could be a problem with her Sea Water cooling inlet valve or a choked up grid. Have a great Christmas fellow Members even if it is somewhat restricted.
