Perhaps this should be in the Ship Repair section?

Still recognizable as North Shields, but when? (no I don't know the answer)

The Ship in the foreground is HMS SATELLITE and she was the RNVR Training ship at North Shields from 1902 to 1936. She was moved to South Shields and lasted until 1947.

Eric Hollerton's book Archive Photographs of North Shields dates the first picture to round about 1934 but obviously not later than 1936.

The second picture is not in the book but looks to be a continuation of the first.

Thought you would have named all those tugs, Mr. Whickham!

The second photo may be a "continuation" of the first but it wasn't taken at the same time. Different vessels in the river. Looks like a bunch of Crosthwaite tugs in the bottom left corner. The paddler could be the WARRIOR built in 1871 by Readhead & Softley. Broken up in 1932. May be JOSEPH CROSTHWAITE, ex Huskisson, built 1896 to the right of the WARRIOR. JOSEPH C became NORTHSIDER and lasted till 1963.
