Car carriers today

Postby Whickham » Thu Aug 23, 2018 8:22 am

An unusual sight today, four large car carriers at anchor off the port and no car carriers (large or small) on the berths.
Wonder what is going on?

Never seen as many large car carriers on the Anchorage. Nissan have an annual holiday but that was a few weeks ago. Presume they must be lacking work.

Yes, the good folks of Whitley Bay will be complaining again, Four Car Boats, One Bulk Carrier and One Container Ship.
One of the Car Boats is 26 years old as well, must be a rust bucket :geek:

From North to South.
PEARL ACE. 1994.
TAIZHOU PIONEER. 2011. Bulk Carrier.
HOEGH INCHON. 1997.
AQUARIUS ACE. 1998.
CMA CGM FORT ST GEORG. 2003 Container Ship.
IRIS ACE. 2011.

Not a Winning hand though, only three Ace's
Paul Hood. + WSS Tyneside Branch Hon Sec.

Apparently NISSAN have made too many cars and are having a long weekend this weekend, shutting down production on Thursday night until Monday morning.

They could do a Buy One Get One Free offer, that would shift them.
