During 1950/51 William Pickersgill & Sons Ltd. completed a class of five colliers at Sunderland for the British Electricity Authority, namely CLIFF QUAY, BARFORD, LORD CITRINE, CAPTAIN J M DONALDSON and SIR ARCHIBALD PAGE.
The booklet "GAS AND ELECTRICITY COLLIERS" by Ridley Chesterton and Roy Fenton tells us that Sir Archibald Page (1875 - 1949) gave up his post as Chief Engineer and General Manager of the County of London Electricity Company Ltd. in 1927 to join the Central Electricity Board where he directed the construction of the National Grid.
The collier bearing his name entered service with the BEA in November 1950, later she sailed under the banner of the Central Electricity Authority then the Central Electricity Generating Board.
In 1972 the ship's name was altered to SIR ARCHIBALD RAGE following her sale to the Ulster Shipping Co. S.A., Panama
In 1974 the ship was sold to the Mykonos Shipping Co. S.A., Panama, then later that year transferred to Greek registry and renamed ANDREAS S.
In 1979 she suffered an engine room fire in Piraeus Roads while on passage Bulgaria to Karachi to be broken up and was subsequently broken up at Perama.
