SMS

Kevin Blair tells me that SMS have won the biomass contract on the Tyne and will have 3 tugs based there. The Port of Tyne have offered them a berth up by the old Mercantile DD somewhere. At the moment the contract is being carried out by tugs from the Tees.

Guardsman now heading up to the Tees, as they also have the contract for Redcar wharf it will be interesting to see if they just juggle between the two ports as needed.

Also, on ABP Humber lists Yorkshireman due to sail to Portsmouth shortly. Englishman was supposed to go down there last year to replace CMS Warrior on charter but is still in Grimsby.

I wonder if we'll see more new tugs to the fleet?

Oh interesting about SMS Kevin as sure does not leave a whole load of work for Svitzer tugs, If SMS are based permanently on the Tyne does that mean they will need to find all new crews etc.

SMS certainly seem to push the boat out ;) I see they appear to be liveaboard positions, I wonder if you have to buy your own food?
From above the Hull shape of the Damien looks like a Snowshoe.
A number of the vessel's of the TCC had live aboard facilities and as Chief you had your own cabin, usually the bunk was covered in various 'attractive items' which could not be left down the Engineroom in case they disappeared according to the permanent Chief, things like Rolls of Walkers Golden Walkerite of various thicknesses? Yes I know

Ron M ,Just one of the items that in the past contained asbestos but now have Carbon fibre which is apparently worse than asbestos if you Drill or cut it or it has been burnt without going into full PPE, when an RAF Harrier crashed near Barnard Castle ( yes the same place to have your eyesight checked) the RAF turned up in full NBC similar to PPE and the poor Farmer thought the aircraft had a Nuclear Weapon onboard. Harriers contained a fair amount of Carbon Fibre. Ron@2.
