Mystery ship

Mystery ship .jpg
Out of curiosity I've just scanned a slide which has been lurking at the bottom of an old shoe box for many a year. I'm surprised that such a beastie wasn't consigned to the bin as soon as I clapped eyes on it many moons ago. It's so underexposed I didn't think my scanner would be able to punch through it.
So for a bit of fun I offer it here for your consideration, and any comments, caustic or otherwise ;)
The modern office block on the left, and the "new" landing stage at South Shields are noteworthy, the landing stage which came into service in July 1999 was constructed by Harbour & General at the Pallion Yard, Sunderland
I think the photo dates from about 2003

One of the Murmansk Shipping bulkers with the white bear on the funnel, or 'NB' after flagging out, must be several examples on site. Several had their cranes stripped off in final years.

Kapitan Vodenko was still around in 2005 - so a possibility.

If you can contact Kevin (His Highness of Hebburn) he will probably have same ship and arrival in his files.

OK, I've been in touch with HHoH and he points out that the tug looks like SVITZER SWORD which only carried that name in 2009-10 timeframe. Given that, he cannot find a KAPITAN doo-daa visiting the river to fit. Also he remembers that the SWORD was not used very much on the river because she was either too deep draughted. She may have been one of the first voiths on the river and that may have been a factor.

They weren't all given KAPITAN names, she must be in the records somewhere.
Just a few of the class from Warnowwerft:
IVAN SUSANIN, IVAN BOGUN, MIKHAIL STREKALOVSKIY, PAVEL VAVILOV, IVAN MAKARIN, VIKTOR TKACHYOV ... and a few earlier ones.
