Tanker plans - Smith's Dock

Postby northeast » Wed Nov 18, 2015 8:09 am

Have this enquiry from the USA, any ideas?

I am looking for ships plans for any one of three ships built at Smiths Dock Co Ltd Middlesbrough for Shell Tankers. (Tanker Finance Ltd or Shell Bermuda (overseas) Ltd)
'ALINDA' 1958 Yard No 1254
'AMASTRA' 1958 Yard No 1252
'AMORIA' 1960 Yard No 1257

The purpose is to build a model of the ship.
Do you know which museum would hold these plans today.

Just a prompt on this enquiry, if nothing held locally from SD then I will let him know.

I had a vague recollection that some Smith's Dock material went to the Kirkleatham Museum in Redcar, but I can find nothing to confirm this.

However, at: http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.u ... /c/F187094
there is mention of ship plans held at the National Maritime Museum, Caird Library;
also Construction Plans being at Teesside Archives.

May be worthwhile referring the enquirer to these potential sources?
