Built in 1955 by Swan's as the PORT SYDNEY

Renamed: 72 AKROTIRI EXPRESS - 74 DAPHNE - 96 SWITZERLAND - 02 OCEAN ODYSSEY - 02 OCEAN MONARCH - 08 PRINCESS DAPHNE

Very interesting!

Smith's Dock or as it would have been then Swan Hunter Shiprepairers, North Shields.

The interesting bit is.......she is in stern first.

1979 Chartered to Costa Armatori for three years.

Owners since 1976 were Delian Athena Cruises S. A.

I think Albert's photo must be after 1975 (she got this name 1974, converted 1975) but before around 1978 as that is when the second container crane arrived ex Newport, I think (was there start of 1979 certainly).

It looks as though time is up for this veteran!
Equasis record her as renamed to DAPHNE and status: To Be Broken Up (since 13/05/2014)
Marinetraffic have her arriving Alang 6.6.14, but sailing the same day! Shown on their AIS as currently anchored off Alang.

Her demise reported also in July 'Marine News', as DAPHNE to Indian breakers.
Last owners Golden laurel Maritime Inc., Portugal.

Dave you need to update your entry for her as PORT SYDNEY.

I've listed her as broken up in India, but that may be premature as she is/was still anchored off Alang.
