KRASIN ex SVYATOGOR

The preserved Russian icebreaker KRASIN in St. Petersburg, 9/8/2014, in the early morning sun, and later from the nearest bridge.

Built 1917 by Armstrong Whitworth, Low Walker (y.n. 904) as Russian SVYATOGOR.
1928: KRASIN
1972: converted to research and drill vessel.
1977: LEONID KRASIN
1989: converted to research and exhibition vessel and reverted to KRASIN.
1992: preserved as St. Petersburg.
(Gross tonnage variously quoted as 6048, 5484 or 5168 depending on source or date.)

Best I could manage a couple of weeks later was the other side from the bus!

One day we might manage to park up the river instead of the Cruise Terminal.........
