A list of the Yards facilities circa 1990


NEPTUNE YARD FACILITY
PRE FAB SHED AND SUB ASSEMBLY SHED

The main pre fab shed has an area in length of 423 ft. x 98 wide.
Pre-fab area 300 ft. x 90 ft it also contains two pin table gantry
for pre-fabricating shaped shell panels. These are 33 ft. x 33 ft.
There are two 20 ton cranes on upper crane gantry, and one 10 ton
crane on lower gantry units of up to 40 tons can be pre-fabricated. There
is a 40 ton lifting beam, situated in shed but a 50 ton beam can
be loaned from Wallsend Shipyard if required. The main door width
to transfer track crane is 57feet wide and 32feet in height from base.
The 20 ton cranes knock out is 52feet from base this gives ample height
for units. There are two sets of 20 ton lifting chains and shackles
in shed. When units are finished they are taken out to a transfer
track outside of pre-fab shed for transporting by 40 ton crane to the
building berths Nos. 6, 7, 8. These berths are chauffeured by
cranes of up to 40 tons at head of berths and 10 ton cranes at end
of berth. See layout sketch. The 20 ton crane track is extended 31feet
outside of pre-fab shed.

SUB ASSEMBLY SHEDS

This also contains various m/c and. craneage is one 10 ton crane
in North Bay and one 5 ton crane in South Bay. North Bay has a
bar bending and straightening M/c No. 0015, also plate shearing
M/c No. 0137. The South Bay has. a cold saw H/c No. 1416 and radial
arm drill. , The plate guillotine M/c No. 0170 is set for plates
at 1/2" thick and is capable for plates up to 10 ft. in length.


PLATERS SHED

The Platers Shed contains all the necessary M/c and covers two
bays which have two 6 ton travelling cranes to each bay and
overlap into main Pre Fab Shed and also have conveyors from
Plate Stockyard for feeding of material. The M/c consist of
a set of mast bending rolls which are 12' in length and can roll
plates up to thick M/c No. 0126. A guillotine M/c No. 1433
which is capable of shearing plates 10 ft. x 3/4" thick max.
A plate edge planning M/c No.??? for preparation of plate edges
Up to 40 ft. in length. A flanging M/c No. 0136 for flanging and
Breaking plate edges 12 ft length x 3/4" max. Plate rolling M/c No. 1431 capable of rolling plates 32 ft long x 5/8" thick. Burning M/c for plates up to in length x ft in width 3 Burning Nozzles on each head also a plate joggling M/c No. 1417 which can be used for joggles small flanging and small radius work also for concave, convex and straight flanges. M/c No. 1448 Bison Oxy cutting Machine.

PLATE STOCKYARD

The crane is a 15 ton capacity E.O.T. crane.
Plate Levelling Machine has a capacity of:-
