ILLUSTRIOUS & KHARG

The aircraft carrier Illustrious and the Iranian replenishment ship Kharg at Walker on a wintry 6 December 1980. Kharg was in limbo - no shipyard personnel were allowed onboard. Occasional inspections were carried out by the Harbourmaster and when it was necessary to adjust moorings or move the ship along the jetty RN personnel from ships building, refitting or visting handled the moorings.
