SHAHRISTAN

To my surprise, there are no pictures of Strick’s 1965 Shahristan - built by John Readhead & Sons - in her original incarnation on NEM, only those of her in a later guise as Strathappin, so I thought that I would post these.

Nice photos of a lovely looking ship by outstanding shipbuilders. Sound British company, Reminds me of how much we lost and how suddenly. I remember the atmosphere on the Tyne when Sunderland built ships drydocked there after seat trials, dark winter mornings when the whole river and river sides were lit by ships, shipbuilders, ship repairers and even at seven o'clock thousands of us were starting a busy day.
