It was exactly 50 years ago today, Sat 3rd April 1971, that i joined HMS Glamorgan.

She was visiting Cardiff and as my first ship was astonished how welcome i was made as a baby sailor by the lads in 3D mess, every one of them must have had at least 2 badges. Tie the Glamorgan tally on yer cap, you've just joined the finest in the fleet.

This destroyer, the only GUZZ (Devonort) based County took me round the world and some until i got my draft in Jan 1973.

Simply the greatest of memories. Thanks.
