This will be from 1931 onwards when the newest of the quartet Opawa was completed.

Who has the definitive date?

Longwood - 29 May 1930 scrap 10 June 1955
Perseus - 23 Aug 1922 sunk 16 Jan 1944
Dalblair - 28 July 1926 sunk 28 Aug 1940
Opawa - 20 Jan 1931 sunk 6 Feb 1942

Sad that 3 out of 4 became war losses.

Impressive indeed Dave, which leads to even more depressing figures as both the original unnamed pair out of shot also became war losses, again launch and fate.

Dalfram - 2 April 1930 sunk 4 Aug 1943
Tower Field - 5 Feb 1935 sunk 5 Mar 1943

Even sadder George, 5 out of 6 with not a single one built on the Tyne although they were all owned or managed by local companies.

Within 3 months from this advert appearing Britain would be at war with Germany.

Those employed here together with dozens of other similar repair yards would soon see an influx of damaged vessels much like the attached Erne and Ashanti story covered in this very forum...
