Brigham & Cowan's at South Shields in 1958. Courtesy of Kevin Blair.
Looks like a Norwegian tanker in the big dock, BP & Shell tankers outboard of another at the dock entrance.
Any thoughts?

Remarkable view from 'days of yore'. I had forgotten that there were 4 drydocks in that site.
I'm wondering when was that road built to cross the railway, it seems like a hug amount of earthworks were needed. It all looks rather 'clean and new' in this photo.

The tanker is maybe Finnish flag?

Certainly plenty of work for the Lads and indeed the Lasses there, in the days when getting a 1/2Penny per hour pay rise was met with celebration, in the Pub of course :)
If you were not happy you could leave, walk or cycle up the road and start at another Yard, no problem.
