Fine view of Smith's also, wonder if that's the Moss Hutchison tanker BUSIRIS in the drydock on the left.

Built for the GAS, LIGHT AND COKE COMPANY, who in 1870 commissioned one of the Largest Gas Works in the World at Beckton.
The name was taken from the Company Motto:- Stet Capitolium Fulgens. You may spot another name in there as well

:( Blame Messrs Chesterton &Fenton if that's not right Dave...

I was thinking about Fulgens, built by Wood Skinner in 1912.

... and would it be the REGENT SPRINGBOK alongside at Smith's? Perhaps in 1962 when converting to bulk carrier and then renamed PROSPERO. See: http://www.clydesite.co.uk/clydebuilt/v ... p?id=12888

Looks like her Ron but if BUSIRIS is there then I guess that might have been her drydocking on completion in 03/1961 (from the Thompson yard) so this could have been an earlier visit of the RS ... although BUSIRIS might have returned of course. I'm not sure just how long she carried the Moss Hutch colours as opposed to P&O or maybe Trident.
