40 YEAR MYSTERY

40 YEAR MYSTERY

Postby ALAN IN LEEDS » Fri Feb 01, 2019 2:11 am

Hi,
Whilst researching my logs for 1979 i came across an anomaly which i havent been able to sort. On 19th June 1979 i was fortunate to be up in the North Shields area and observed the ferry SHIELDSMAN tied up with another vessel similar looking behind it. The name i have logged is SHIELDONIAN but i have been unable to find any details of this vessel. Is it possibly a lost sister of the SHIELDSMAN or some other type of vessel such as a pilot vessel or tender ??
Any info would be most gratefully received.

Rgds,
Alan

Well the SHIELDSMAN (1976) and the PRIDE OF THE TYNE were similar but the pride was not built until 1993. Not aware of any Sisters.

Assume no picture or you would have posted it.........
