The Tyne tug IMPETUS on the River Tyne between Newcastle and Wallsend.
IMPETUS (5159703): Ridley Tugs Ltd., Newcastle, 141gt, completed Cuxhaven 7-1954.
1969 JOACHIM (West German), 1984 STORESUND (Denmark) - 1997 MADERA V (Italy, but Panama flag)
Still in service, 58 years old, according to Equasis.

Nice Picture of the old girl shown under Tyne tug Colours.

My Dad Bless him was her skipper not long after she arrived in the Tyne, he was skipper of the Marty before transferring and he was just gob smacked at the differance as the Impetus was the first new diesel tug in the Tyne at the time.

She's heading up River past St Anthony's where the Riverside Park is now.

Another view of IMPETUS just about to pass through the swing bridge with a barge for the lead works. Some of these barges were made of concrete.
