I recall three of these in the 1960's that used to live in the entrance to the Ouse Burn. Harcus, Shearwater and Tyndal. Happy Days.

Harcuss is the only one I can find any imformation on Ron:-

Devonport, could be ex Admiralty then? Worth asking in the Small Ships group?
Could they have been part of the Associated Lead fleet, like the Goole-built KIMBERLEY?

Now that I do remember, Ron, or at least I do now!!

Cannot find any trace of 'Gibsons' though.

The Port of Tyne Handbook for 1976 states that there were 'Six privately owned water boats operating throughout the Port'

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo three more to find :-)))

Wondering if there's any chance she might be the former tank barge SHEARWATER C by Scarr, Hessle (368) in 1935.
p.s. just noticed the file name is SHEARWATER1935.
