SINAIA (6609523), NAVROM, Romania, 10838gt,
completed Laing, Deptford, Sunderland, 11-1966
1978 converted to livestock carrier 10435gt
BU Bombay 8.10.90 [Nathani Industrial Services]

Here recorded by Albert Weller at Thompson's quay and my recollection of my personal sighting of her in September 1966 was that she was then moored midstream even nearer the mouth of the river.

Isn't this the North Dock?

Could be! And I'm not able to argue with you, I just presumed (wrongly, by the look of it) that Albert took the view from above Austin's! North Dock would be more in line with my own sighting of her, but not the distant view previously shown at: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2700

Laings yard no 838, and its sister Predeal, yard no 839, both for Industrial Export, ("State Company for Foreign Trade"), Rumania. Both laid up for some time because the data logging system would not work properly and possibly the reason why Sinai was in the north dock when this picture was taken. Harland and Wolff B&W engine numbers 2606 and 2607, each 6 cylinder, 740 bore, 1600 stroke.
Some of the correspondence in the original contract folders refer to the owners as "Navrom Roumnainan Maritime and Fluvial Navigation."
Judging by the large volume of correspondence over several years dealing with claims and counter claims, these ships appear to have had more than their fair share of technical problems, not just with data logging.

For some reason, Albert couldn't fit the whole ship into his colour slide, clearly taken on the same occasion as his b/w view above. With the slide dated circa July 1967 this seems to support the view that she was then laid up, as detailed, following completion.
