Superb pictures of happier days on the River Wear. Another example of the small, river side strips of land and narrow river that limited modern shipbuilding on the Wear when many Japanese yards were built, post war, on massive, flat sites with building docks. It's quite amazing that we lasted so long in some ways. See Tony's post "Pallion" on the Doxford/ Pallion thread.Thanks for posting it.

One of thirteen Panamax bulk carriers built between Thompsons, (JLT), and Laings, (SJL), five of which were for Yugoslavia. Jadran was Thompsons contract 735 built at Laings whilst Laings 855, Sutjeska contract was built at Thompsons. All of these ships were fitted with Doxford 760J8 engines. yard numbers below are followed in brackets with Doxford engine works contract number.
