Mylla. Yard number 840 in 1966 for Interessenpskaper M/S. Doxford 760J6 engine number 381
Only five of the six cylinders visible and two Brown Boveri turbo chargers. Don't young posers make you smile when they feel that because their cars have a turbo under the bonnet they think they are into something big! and sat nav is the latest must have status symbol that has to be mentioned ever so casually so as to seem "cool," when these things had sat nav 47 years ago!
The smell of warm paint, new diesel oil, the constant beat of the generators, 750 RPM, the heat, the noise, and the sight of a Doxford 6 cylinder running sweetly at 110 rpm. Sliding down the handrails of engine room ladders. Apprentices, we thought we were men.Tea and sandwiches in the engine room on sea trials. A managing director, suffering from alcohol ingress appearing in the engine control room after midnight, demanding in a slurred voice "Come on somebody make a fool of themselves." Only to be reminded by someone who wouldn't dare in more sober moments, "Your'e not doing such a bad job of that yourself Mr. _ _ _ _. Who would have thought that so soon after, it would all be only distant memories? Who would have thought that 47 years would pass so quickly and what seems so recent is history. What's worse, so am I. :o and if you remmeber it all, so are you :o :o

Similar ships by the Doxford Group:
Fernriver, Fernspring, Sheaf Tyne, August Pacific, Amber Pacific, Argonaut. G.M. Livanos (J.L.Thompson)
Roslagen, Orotava (Sir James Laing)
All of these were Doxford 760J6, 13,300 BHP engines with the exception of Roslagen and it had a Gotaverken engine

Austin and Pickersgills built two similar ships about the same time, Happy Dragon and Sygna.
