* the yard was established as an emergency measure from 1917 as the EGIS yard, the name coming from its shareholders Ellerman, Gray, Inchcape and Strick but became part of Wm. Gray from 1918. It was situated at Pallion, west of the Short Bros. yard on the former Kish, Boolds site.
