Another post card (undated) courtesy of Kevin Blair. A TIC hopper speeding towards the swing bridge, perhaps it could lower that funnel.

The hopper isolated from the main photo. Could that be TIC NO 17 on the bow?

If so would fit with: http://www.tynebuiltships.co.uk/R-Ships ... 71902.html

Looks good, Dave ... that bridge ain't going to move, so I hope her funnel is on the way down!
Could be a Bergen Line steamer in the far distance, three white rings.

When I looked at the enlargement it looked like the Funnel was on the way down but looking at the Model it would appear that there was quite a rake on it to start off with.
I always thought that the TCC hung on to some of their tonnage a bit "over long", looks like the TIC were very prudent with their money when it came to spending on new builds, nevertheless for the Engineer they gave an appreciation into classic British Marine Engineering from around the time of the "Titanic"
A Steam Recip is a Steam Recip, it's just a matter of size.
