Views taken in 1966 from the bank side above Harrison's slipway. The tug receiving attention is ALNMOUTH, the coaster moored nearest the shore is OAKDENE, I can't identify the other small coaster (answers on a post card please!)

On May 16th 1966 a strike by British seamen began in the country and lasted until July 1st. Like most UK ports the Tyne found itself hosting a number of vessels lying idle during the dispute with the result that up and down the river an increasing number of ships were accommodated in some unusual spots. The tanker TUDOR PRINCE was found a temporary home at Bill Quay.
Built on the Wear by Doxfords the Prince Line took delivery of the ship in 1961.
Registered with Furness Withy in 1971 she was renamed STOLT TUDOR after being converted to carry chemicals.
She was transferred to the ownership of the Moniwel Corporation, Liberia, in 1973 and eventually renamed STOLT.
Italian owners Sicula Partenopea di Nav. bought the ship in 1986 and renamed her STELLA AZZURA.
The following year she made her way to Gadani Beach and the breakers

To save a stamp, answer here .... I am sure must be OAKDENE's fleet mate from Irving, ROSEDENE with her exceptionally tall mast and Sunderland registry.
