Kevin sent me this nice photo of Newcastle with paddlers on the Gateshead side. They look to me like Tyne General Ferries Co boats but cannot see any identification.

Fine old view, who stole the big bridge? :)
Looks like maybe a General Steam Nav vessel on Newcastle side and a coaling barge inside the ferries.
