Tyne Dock 19xx

Kevin sent me this large panoramic view of Tyne Dock dated ????.

FLEETWING on the left suggests post 1907. She spent the WW1 war years in German hands, so I am tempted to say prior to 1914 and as the funnel is so clean, nearer to 07 than 14. Tyne Dock is now filled in of course but at its height in 1913, 7 million tons of coal were exported from the dock and in the whole period between 1859 and 1934 it shipped a total of 323 million tons. That is a lot of small colliers. See also: http://www.tynetugs.co.uk/Owner-Tyne-Dock.html

Don't you wish more Owners would put the name of their ships in BIG FRIENDLY LETTERS on the side of their Ships!

So the two paddle tugs would be in the N.E.R. fleet of the period?

Yes, one would think so, but comparison photos are rare to none existant.

Possibles would be TYNE DOCK NO 1 of 1889, see: http://www.tynetugs.co.uk/tynedockno11889.html

and TYNE DOCK NO 4 of 1890, see: http://www.tynetugs.co.uk/tynedockno41890.html
