Where is it!

Where is it!

I wonder how many recognise these gates ??

I was surprised to see the old gates of the old Smiths no 8 dock North Shields (the big one) still exist, they concreted a wall behind and then filled in the lot.

It is somewhat amusing to think when they build house there I wonder how many will realise they are sitting over the dock which is still below them!

On the bright side the houses can only sink so far !! :D

Shame when you think of all the fine ships, and big ones for their time, that have passed through that 'wall'.

Largest one I can think of was Shipping & Coal's FORELAND which was 37,800 dwt.
Any advance ?
