Note the lady following the prams and walking between the railway lines, chatting to someone on her mobile phone.

Interesting view of the "Mechanism" for the ramp as well.

Caps were Real Caps in those days...

Kevin send me another view of a river steamer alongside the South Pier. Photo is from a postcard that was posted in August 1914.
I would have said that it was a Tyne General Ferry steamer but the company was wound up in 1909.
May be an old postcard or someone running river cruises after the ferry services ceased.
For instance their ferry DORIS was owned by Tyne Trips Ltd from 1911 ish.
Unfortunately can't quite make out the name.
