Great old pictures, not sure or is me but that looks like a United Towing Tug at the Harton Buoys white funnel black top :D

Lots of detail there Kevin , obviously had lots of practice with blow up thingys.

We have an Esso boat up front and is that a Salvesen behind? The United Towing tug mentioned by Tynesider may be a France Fenwick.

The Esso boat may be ESSO TIOGA (or sister, if there was one). The following photos are from Photoship.

Not too many FFT&W tugs, screw, two masts and cross trees on the fore mast.

Maybe: http://www.tynetugs.co.uk/hendon1924.html

The Christian Salvesen looks like one of the 'Flower Class' corvette's they bought after the War for conversion to Towing Vessels. Possibly the WOODRUFF which became the SOUTHER LUPIN in 1948.
