Great old picture but it says 1846 ??
but the foy boat in the foreground have never changed much in all this time

The dock didn't open until 1859 so I presume the 1846 is some sort of serial number for the post card.

Good thinking Dave :) OR maybe that ship was not entering and just a picture of the gates ??? seems strange
