Kevin has sent me this fine view of a steam/sail vessel entering the Tyne. Looks sort of naval, but no identity. Anyone?

Don't know whether the closer view helps?

Not Calliope - too big, too many decks and not flying a White Ensign. It could be a troopship Palmers launched the Jumna in September 1886.

Thanks Buggins, I had originally looked at JUMNA but thought the bow was wrong and the anchor hawse were in the wrong place.

Dave, certainly an interesting photograph of her without the Funnel and her Ports enlarged, wonder if she was used as a RNR or ANother type of Drill ship in later life although no mention in write up. Ron@?

According to Colledge Jumna became a coal hulk in 1893 and numbered C.110, sold in July 1922 to A J Hellyer as a hulk and named Oceanic. The naval interest then ends.

I think possibly there must be something adrift in her history which is not surprising, if you look at the last picture she looks as though she is still flying the White Ensign, although she has no Funnel, still has her boats and Masts, certainly does not look like a Hulk in that picture neither does she look seagoing. She may well have been an accommodation vessel before becoming a Hulk I suspect.
