Nice shot of the Firegrate, Gauge Column and Throttle, prior to my spell at the TCC the vessels I had sailed on were all Oil Fired jobs and I thought that it was just a matter of throwing shovels of Coal into the Firebox on Coal Fired Boilers however that is not the case as I was informed by the Fireman on No10 who told me that on a Coal Fired Natural Draught Firegrate the Firebed is built up at the back (rather than all the Firebed being level ) and on a Forced Draught where the Firebed is higher at the front in the Marine World.
Were there any Forced Draught Locomotives bearing in mind the speed some Locomotives could achieve using ducted air?
