The "HUMANITAS" - not sure when she went aground but it's clearly in Hartlepool, near the Fish Sands. You can just make out the Pilot's Pier in the distance. Thanks to Owen Corrigan for the use of this photograph from his collection.

I think she will be the 1902 vessel by Short as ANGLO-SAXON for Nitrate Producers (Lawther, Latta) and as HUMANITAS under Italian flag 1926-1930 only when broken up with prop damage.

She arrived at Rotterdam under tow on the 8th April 1930 having lost her propeller.

Wonder if this was when she lost it??

The Manager looking after her as Humanitas was "PIETRO RAVANO FU MARCO"

I believe the Italian 'fu' equates to 'son of' and used extensively to differentiate between people who would otherwise have the same name .... occuers in many Italian shipowner names.
