BBC Zarate & Regine.JPG
I wasn't sure where to post this photograph so I opted for the REGINE set as she is the most prominent vessel here. This was taken from near the Heugh Breakwater in Hartlepool as the REGINE sails and the BBC ZARATE heads into port in quite a rough swell.

Don't remember ever seeing a ship using the external support/balance (as per your 1st photo). Seen it on trucks manytimes. Thought it was handled by water ballast.

Well it is handled by water ballast, the water is in the Stability Pontoon acting as a counter balance for the Crane.

The ship probably has internal ballasting as well.

ANNE-SOFIE berthing with pontoon already in place: viewtopic.php?f=43&t=5638&hilit=sofie

MARIA berthed and likewise: viewtopic.php?f=33&t=7845&hilit=maria

We've done quite well on NEM over the last year in recording many of the SAL vessels. Checking the list of 16 ships, we have missed only three or four of them at this stage.
