Look a bit like a telly advert.

At the end of the day when you're all done in
You can always rely on a Premier Inn
:D

p.s. it's having to share with Lenny Henry that I don't like ....

I know what you are saying!

In the useless information department, I was on board the PSS Wingfield Castle for a 'bit of a do' to help promote the Hartlepool History Then & Now launch.

Might be worth looking at sometime:

Especially the Hartlepool Ships and Shipping section.

Did you get one of the "Posh" Pens??

My Great Great Grandmother came from Hartlepool. Mary Pounder.
She was baptised in 1829 the daughter of Thomas Pounder (A Fisherman) and Ann Harrison.

She went on to marry Thomas Wood Minter of Whitstable and they had four sons. Eden James Minter was born in 1862 and went on to serve in quite a few Hartlepool ships before becoming a Pilot at Blyth.

Website looks good as well, hopefully it will grow in time when more information is added.

Yes, I did get one of their 'posh' pens - and a few booklets on the town.

I've submitted several photographs for their site, but I'm now searching for any old images, and history, on Hartlepool Fish Quay.

I'm working on a website for them (that's what I do as a hobby) which, all being well, should be up and running towards the latter part of August or early September.

http://www.hartlepoolfishco.co.uk is the link when the time comes.

Paul, we used to have a Norman Pounder as a Docks Manager with BTDB/ABP, he started career on the Fish Dock at Hartlepool so maybe from the same gene pool as you!

My Grand father came from Hartlepool and his wife was originally from Wensleydale so that's a great combination.
Left Hartlepool in 1923 with £50 and set up his shipping butcher's business in Blyth supplying fresh meat and ice to ships loading coal for Scandanavia after they had discharged timber pit props from Scandanavia for use in the Durham and Northumberland coalfields. As there were no fridges in them days he realised they would stock up on fresh food and ice, to keep the meat cool/frozen for the passage over to Scandanavia .
Guess we would call him an entrepreneur now - no Dragon's Den in 1923 though.
Always wore a bowler hat and chain smoked all through the day.
Eh them wer't days lads
I'm too young to remember them though.
