GRAYTHORP

Postby HSA31 » Thu Jun 28, 2012 7:24 pm

A busy day at the Graythorp yard of Wm. Gray and Co Ltd. in 1963 with the BASSANO (1946) in the drydock, and the MAGDAPUR (1945), FIDENTIA (1947) and CITY OF PERTH under repair afloat. In the foreground can be seen where work had begun on a second drydock but this was never completed. More recently the yard came into the news when ships of the US reserve fleet arrived for breaking up.

A wonderful reminder of the yard as it was, Harold ... always seemed to be a Brocklebank over there and usually a Michalinos as well.
