Oilfield contract for LV Shipping & Transport

Postby Whickham » Thu Feb 21, 2013 9:16 am

LV Shipping & Transport, which has a base in Middlesbrough, has won a contract to transport material and equipment for the construction of three oilfield platforms.

GDF SUEZ, as operator of the Cygnus Field, has awarded a contract to LV to provide freight forwarding, transport and logistics services for the Cygnus Development Project.

LV will be responsible for the shipping of virtually every piece of material and equipment for the construction of the topsides for three platforms and a compression module intended to be built at Heerema Hartlepool.

They will also transport additional materials and equipment for the construction of four jackets at BiFab in Methil to be possibly followed by the fabrication of the topside for the fourth platform.

The Cygnus field, which is located off the coast of Lincolnshire, is the largest gas discovery in the southern North Sea in the last 25 years. The layout of the field consists of two drilling centres, four platforms and ten development wells.

The field is expected to start production in late 2015 and is predicted to account for around 5 per cent of the UK gas production in 2016.

LV Shipping, which is part of the Dutch owned LV Group, is a member of energy sector business development organisation, NOF Energy.

Chris Lewin from LV Shipping and Transport said the company would be deploying project teams based in the UK and Rotterdam.
