ALEXANDRA K (5400413), Cia. Merabello San Nicolas S.A., Panama, 2908gt,
completed Wm Gray, Hartlepool, 5-1943,
ex Uskmouth-62, ex Eskgarth-51, ex Empire Valour-48.
1968 Arisitidis II, Greece, BU Piraeus 1.6.71 [Cavership EPE].

ALEXANDRA K, Manchester, 15 September 1965.
My first visit to Manchester, and it was raining as only Manchester can!
So, I was very pleased to obtain a reasonable shot of this fine ship.

50 YEARS AGO TODAY!
My first visit to Manchester and it was pouring down, just like here at home this morning!
As a result I took only two photos.
The ALEXANDRA K you have already seen but her head tug was:
M.S.C. ARCHER, Manchester Ship Canal Co., Manchester, 144gt, completed Leith 8-1938
Disposal data not known.

No other connection at all with NEM, but a shot I still like!!

You did well Ron, my first and last attempt to see Manchester ships was in October 1964, I must have walked from the station to the docks and got only a view over the fence from the adjacent road. After that, I remained on the trains until I got to Lime Street ....

Oh, I did the normal dock tour on foot despite the rain. My notebook contains 23 sightings in Manchester that day 50 years ago today .... but only those two photos! This was the 11th day of my Mersey holiday with only one more day of ships yet to come.
Two years later I repeated the exercise, still totally on foot! Couldn't do that now!!!!

I kept my footwork for the Liverpool end, Pierhead to Gladstone, bus back, ferry, Wallasey to Bidston, bus to New Brighton then even a walk back to Seacombe for the ferry. Did the Lyke Wake Walk to keep in training for it!!
