PERGO (5274723), Netherlands, 383gt,
completed Delfzijl 5-1958
collision (ZANZIBAR) 50.15N/3.03W 1.2.75 [Ijmuiden-Londonderry, fertilizer]

Poor quality Albert Weller slide, circa May 1972, outward bound, River Tees:

Somewhere in the dim recesses of my memory is a recollection of reading that as a brand new ship the PERGO was somehow set adrift and crossed from Holland to the UK unmanned, coming ashore somewhere. Arising from that I was never quite sure if that was this PERGO, or if she was an immediate replacement for the previous one (if she became a total loss?).
Can anyone elucidate?

The second PERGO, built 1976 ended up as the REMA.
