Top pic is at Cargo Fleet, not Eston Jetty.
(Compare the unloaders with pic on " Visgnes" thread.)
The Trinculo was very nearly wrecked off the South Gare in
about 1965. She sailed in very bad weather and lost all
power when just outside the Breakwater, but fortunately
got the main engine back "Just in time".

Just shows how memory fades and plays tricks! Yes, of course, Cargo Fleet Wharf was/is upriver of Smith's Docks, whereas Eston Jetty was downstream of Smith's.

Occasionally ships would start discharge at Eston then when a bit
lighter would move up to Cargo Fleet where there was less water.
Again all stopped with the opening of Redcar Ore Terminal.
