There was at one time a number of Spanish Trawlers registered at Castletownbere Co Cork, Under EU law they could register in Ireland and share the quota, but a percentage of the crew would have to be Irish and I think they only needed to enter the home port once a year. I am sure the same law applied in the UK .

Re-reading all the above posts and comments still leaves me totally confused, while noting we did not seem able to resolve the question (which was??) at that time.

Merely for interest my photos of:
CORNELIS JANNETJE (8817394), 366gt, completed Foxhol/Stellendam 7-1989
1989 SOLI DEO GLORIA - 2003 CORNELIS JANNETJE

Stellendam - 30 July 2009:

Just wondering if, in fact, the photos do show the same trawler, except by the time of my sighting her funnel had been replaced by the two streamlined uptakes shown?

SOLI DEO GLORIA inwards for Middlesbrough Dock 26.07.91 and in Middlesbrough Dock 29.07.91,more confusion, as she looks to be another trawler of the same name, the gantry on the stern being different to the other two.
