Bran Sands

Or should it be Brown Sands?

Built as the effluents tanker DALMARNOCK by Clyde builder Lamont in 1970 she became BRAN SANDS in 1999. She was a regular sight on both the Tyne and the Tees carrying her delicate cargo for processing at Newport.

That's Newport on the Tees BTW.

We had a visit on her in Sunderland arranged through Northumbria Water. Her Skipper used to be on the MVA (and the Sir Fon) that worked out of Blyth.

She was in splendid condition, got some pictures somewhere. The control's were on a sloping pannel on the Bridge and the skipper or one of the crew had to stand on a box in order to reach the ones that were furthest away..

Bran Sands = a stretch of unfrequented beach on the south bank of the River Tees, seaward of Redcar Bulk (Ore) Terminal on the river side of the South Gare roadway.
