ROYAL PAGEANT (3 June 2012)

In the scheme of things our NEM region representatives put up a reasonable show.

There was a live interview on board the WHELDALE (Goole-based) with the COB (Tees-built) in the background. The COB just about came into view later in the wake of the old tug BARKING. And in the latter stages the SPIDER T (Keadby-based) showed her paces. Sorry if there were others I did not spot, but hope they all thoroughly enjoyed their day.

Yes, indeed. The weather could have been kinder, but then I suppose it could have been an awful lot worse. Cheers to the Queen. No matter how you may view Royalty, I think you have to agree that she has done a fine job.

I am a Republican convert but felt sorry for this 86-year old lady, as I would for any other, condemned to stand for 3 hours in the wind because no-one had thought to put some screens around the prepared 'thrones'. The ship was spoiled for the ha'porth of tar, as it were.

The COB taking part in the pageant is still making our local news this week. There was an item in our local Evening Gazette earlier this week. Unfortunately, I could not find any link to the content online. However, it has now more or less been repeated in the local freebie Herald & Post and for those who may not have seen it, or do not live locally, this is the link:

Click on Next at bottom of page to move onto page 3 and the article. (I suspect this will show for only one week?)
