Wilhelmine Oldendorff

Originally laid down as a chemical carrier in Malaysia the original owners withdrew and Stevie Clark got involved with her and I think she was launched as TOPAZ but before completion they sold her to Oldendorff's who chartered her to Stevie's for a couple of years. Could not make it up really

No mention of being launched as Topaz in Mr Lloyds Big book, but that does not mean it did not happen.
Original Owner is given as Rio Topaz Shipping, Manager Egon Oldendorff.

02 RIO TOPAZ - 03 WILHELMINE OLDENDORFF - 05 RIO TOPAZ - 06 ROMUVA - 16 LAIME.

Currently trading in the Med.

Was that a rare visit????

Vessel was built at P.T.Pal Indoniesia, Surabaya shipyard (Yard No. 130) and Stevies sold it while under construction as TOPAZ to Zegluga Morska, Szczecin and was launched as TOPAZ, registered in Gibraltar, during December 1996
Will try and find my noes which have been staring at me for ages before - you guessed it- a tidy up

RIGHT HERE IS THE FULL STORY.....
Ordered by Stephenson Clarke in 1995 as part of a two ship contract and launched as TOPAZ for them in December 1997. However due to delays in their construction Stevies cancelled the contracts and the yard took them over and offered them for resale. During 1997 a prospective sale to Polska Zegluga Morska with conversion to a sulphur carrier fell through.
5.1998: Completed for Rio Topaz Shipping (Egon Oldendorff, Lubeck, managers), Liberia, as WILHELMNE OLDENDORFF. 2002: Renamed RIO TOPAZ. 2003: Renamed WILHELMINE OLDENDORFF. 2005: Renamed RIO TOPAZ. 2006: Sold to Lithianian Shipping Co., Klaipeda and renamed ROMUVA 2016: Sold to Laime Shipping Co. Ltd. (Astramar Shipping Co.Ltd,Riga, managers), Latvia, renamed LAIME and transferred to the Antigua and Barbuda register.
And to complete the story her un namaed sister was completed as THEODOR OLDENDORFF. Would be interesting to find out if she was going to be a Sussex town or precious stone name

IMO: 9121912
Nothing in Miramar (so presume also Lloyd's Register) to confirm her launch as TOPAZ.
