Old Blyth - older than George!!!

Postby creemaster » Sun Feb 16, 2020 5:11 pm

This photograph hangs in the foyer of one of the sheltered housing schemes I deliver to.
The ship has her name on the hull so I would guess she might be Scandanavian. The only other possibility she is a Shipping & Coal collier - or her unpronounceable Dutch parent company

I was there the next day .....
Don't forget Witherington & Everett when looking at vessels of this age with names on side, unfortunately this one doesn't seem to have their distinctive funnel. Flag may be Dutch so Scheepvaart-en-Steenkolen Maatschappij is possible (see, I can write that even at such an advanced age, young man).

p.s. does anyone else see ELECTRA in that name? If so, could be the old pre-1914 German flag and the vessel of that name 1893-1932, owner Holm & Molzen, Flensburg. There was a smaller ELECTRA built at Grangemouth, 1899-1916.
