NEW BATES.jpg

The old Bund runs in line with the road on the left of the picture and the existing fence is to the right of the Bund allowing views to Battleship which is the main berth, off picture on the other side of the River. The new fence will run along the edge of the road and a new bund will be constructed on the inside of the fence. The site will be more secure and look much better for the people living in the houses, but its another vantage point blocked off for us. We will have to catch vessels moving up and down the river now at a lower point. Fortunatly this is still possible and good shots can be obtained.

This is how it looked at the end of last week
All the rubbish, weeds, possibly endangered species of fauna and pondlife (not including some of the residents of the local estate) have been cleared, a matting put down and covered.
The bund has been redesigned so that it starts all the way along the length of the new fence and it will be the same height all the way along.

Latest earthworks photographs
Bottom of the slope starts right up against the fence and in the second picture they are moving the existing slope over to the fence and land grabbing the ground in between
As far as wild flowers goes someone has thrown a black bin liner over the fence the contents of which were 'blowing in the wind' (with thanks to Robert Allan Zimmeman)

Yes, I noticed that further down the locals have made it look more like home by tipping a couple of bags of rubbish over the fence. The fence must be Seven or Eight feet high so they would have to have put a bit of effort into it.

Not sure what they are going to do with the bund as the sides are too steep for grass cutting. Time will tell.

The only creatures that can get in now to see the ships.
Am sure it was mocking me
